Giving Thanks

Last year's Thanksgiving.

Pilgrim Hats in the making. (shortbread cookies with a fat marshmallow rolled in melted chocolate on top) - found that recipe years and years ago in Family Fun magazine, been making them ever since.

The annual give thanks prayer before the meal.

Bobbi Marie is studying American History this year. I love to read alongside her some amazing things about our Founding Fathers. Here is part of a Day of Thanksgiving speech from George Washington, 1789.

Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His protection and favor; and whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me "to recommend to the people of the United States of America a Day of Public Thanksgiving and Prayer," to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness. 1789 G. Washington

What a wonderful part of history, what a wonderful reminder to give thanks for HIS protection and favor. Amen! Have a Happy, Happy Thanksgiving.

our last christmas, little did we know!! we miss you-you are always in our thoughts. We sold his house, it was as if we had to say goodbye again. Nothing but fond memories. Movie night, hide and go seek, fishing, the beach, pool table, weight room, ice cream, bagels, peach diet iced tea, laughing...simply you. Miss you more than you will ever know. It feels as if it was just yesterday, thank God you are "free". "With your final heartbeat, kiss the world goodbye, go in peace and laugh on Glory's side. And fly to Jesus, fly to Jesus, fly to Jesus and LIVE....." .
