A very small update. We have had a new little girl for almost two weeks. She's super quiet, she squeeks and make these little noises. Nothing like our last toddler that made big noises. That is hard to explain but I think most people probably understand. She is just starting to smile and laugh out loud, but you really have to work at it. She keeps her eyebrows down and seems to be more on the serious side. When she came to us, they dropped her off with one bottle and two diapers. That's it. That whole drop off makes me super sad and yet, that is one of our favorite times. We scoop 'em up and start our lovin'. Of course, we bathe them right away, clean out whatever was given to us and then try to soothe them. She was so expression-less. So serious, so calm, too calm. She went to bed right away (we got her really late). The next day I always wonder what goes through their little minds? They wake up somewhere strange, the voices, the people, the room….??? That first week, and gee, this second week is pretty tough. We are still getting used to each other. Not to mention that you have to bring these babies in to a Doctor within the first 72 hours. That is a little traumatizing, most have not seen a doctor in awhile. Our little one had to get shots and had an ear infection; she was a mess. And there I am soothing a baby that has no clue who I am? But, it is part of our "bonding". It all counts. Then of course, there are the visits with parents right away. This is a good thing. However, it does mess with their little emotions, even the baby. We have no idea about how long we will have her, what her future holds, but we do know that she is another little baby that needed us. Another little baby that God wanted for us to have and to hold for a little while or a long while. Time will only tell. Please pray for our family unit as a whole. There is alot of adjusting in these early weeks. Please pray for baby and baby's family. Whatever that blanket statement means, God knows it all and we truly feel He has a plan for these kids. These little ones that are taken from their homes, separated from siblings, lives turned upside down, there is a bigger plan. We are only so blessed to be a part of a "hot mess". A hot mess that brings us way more love and joy than I feel we even give out. Fostering to me brings about such a sense of gratefulness. We are so blessed to be in a situation to even open up our home and give out our extra love. We are so blessed to have kids that are willing to share their mom and dad to a complete stranger. We are so blessed…..see the list could go on and on and on. We are blessed.
