As We Say Goodbye

Present:  Well, here we go….again.  I don't think I will ever get "used" to this.  This is our new baby in care.  Well, she came to us in October.  A little preemie.  Super, duper tiny and super, duper needy.  And of course, I think God knows we do "needy" pretty good.  We overly hold; some would say spoil.
Past:  We had this little girl over 18 months ago.  And this new baby (above ) is her sister.
And this little baby (below) is another sister that we had in care.  But, boy oh boy do they all look alike or what?  These girls have etched a spot in all of our hearts.  They go home and their new sister arrives a year and a half later.    I love to see how God moves.
Then this little girl (below) came to us when we said goodbye to the other little girls.  We cried and cried and cried.  She made us feel better pretty quick.
Then after a whirlwind (we had her two siblings join our family, a total of 7 kids for awhile!) we said goodbye to them.  Yes, we still are able to keep in touch.  God is so good to us.
We went to Disney with no babies.  Celebrated family.  Celebrated not dragging strollers and diapers around.  We had lots of fun and little did we know that…..
This guy would be dropped off!   My, time flies.  This chubby faced baby is now growing…..

into a very funny, rambunctious toddler.    As he stays……(praise God)

(Back to the Present: )   In no time at all, we will be saying goodbye to the preemie that has been with us for three months.   I have had time to really get to know her family.  I am praying that we have a long relationship with them.  God has allowed these girls to be a part of our family for a reason, that we know.  He will go with them, they are His kids.  We are grateful to have been a part of their lives.  Some of how I pray….(because when you foster, your prayer life changes.  Ask any Christian foster parent this….it's true.  You pray more, you pray harder, you pray more specific.  Little lives depend on it.)

Dear Jesus, Be with this baby.  Protect her, her sisters, her brother, her parents.  May your light and love surround them as they go through each day.  Draw her family to you.  Our prayer is that one day we will see them in heaven.  Use us to minister to their family.  Allow them to reach out to us and allow us to reach out to them.  Mend our hearts.  Keep us soft and full of compassion.  Let us love with your love.  Be with their mamma.   Strengthen her and allow her to SEE You.  Allow her to Know You.  In your name, Jesus.  Amen

Precious girl, you will be missed.    Deut. 31:8  The Lord Himself will go before you; He will never leave you or forsake you……..
