Happy New Year. And what a new year it is. Life is in full swing, again. Over Christmas break we did absolutely nothing, and it was glorious! I mean to the point that the days seemed super, duper long. Of course, we were waiting to be called for a baby, a foster baby. We had some calls but then realized that the baby was too old or they couldn't find the baby (that is true) or a relative had taken the baby, etc. One of Bobbi's friends seems to always be with us when we get a "baby call". The call that gives you their name, age and circumstance. By the time you hang up the phone and then repeat it to the family, she said out loud that you can't seem to help fall in love with this stranger of a baby that you only know by name. And it is true. Yes, we did not get three of these babies, but your mind remembers their names and ages as if they were in our home. My heart truly goes out to these babies, as any one's heart would. BUT we finally did receive a call with a little, super little baby boy. And he is just darling. He was worth the wait and he has filled our hearts and minds and hands with love. We really don't know too much about him, and that's o.k. Before I would just be dying to know the situation, all the details, etc. but I am in such a different place than I was before. My/our job is to love this child and to protect this child while he or she is in our care. That part is easy. That other stuff I will know soon enough. With that being said, did I say boy?, YES, I said BOY. It is kinda funny because we have had nothing but girls. It is a nice change. He did cry the first day every time he looked at us. We held him close and really never let his legs hit the ground. He needed love. Now he looks up at us, smiles, cuddles, coos, rubs your face. All that good stuff. We are blessed. God's mighty Hand knew exactly what we needed and when we needed it. Here we go again! Fall in love, give out love and build confidence in this child, security, trust, more love and then prepare them for a heart felt, super sad good bye. Is it worth it? Yes. Fostering is not for the faint hearted. God uses your heart, grows your heart, gives strength to your heart, heals your heart so you can keep giving out more and more and more….you "feel" it but it is so worth it. xoxox
